Ian Broudie and The Lightning Seeds are going to be supporting Madness at Franklin’s Gardens for the open-air concert on Friday 28th June 2019.
The band has had an astonishing impact on the nation’s musical consciousness. Forming in Liverpool in 1989, the Lightning Seeds went on to have commercial success throughout the nineties with tracks including ‘Pure’, ‘The Life of Riley’ and ‘Lucky You’. Their biggest and most unforgettable hit came in 1996 with ‘Three Lions’ which is fondly remembered by football fans as sending the England football team off to Euro ’96, and was a number 1 hit in ’96, ’98 and 2018.
Ian Broudie originally emerged from the post punk Liverpool music scene of the late seventies playing in the band “Big in Japan” alongside fellow band members Bill Drummond (KLF), Holly Johnson (Frankie Goes To Hollywood), Budgie (The Slits/Souxie And The Banshees) and Jayne Casey (Pink Military). When the band ended in 1979, Ian started producing several acts starting with Echo & The Bunnymen and The Fall, and this production work has continued – in recent years he produced the debut platinum selling albums for both fellow Liverpudlian bands The Coral and The Zutons, plus the likes of Miles Kane.
Celebrating their 40thanniversary with a huge summer tour in 2019, Madness are one of the top-20 selling UK groups of all time and will perform hits from their extensive and much-loved repertoire in front of up to 18,000 people at the home of Northampton Saints.
Their 2019 tour will see Madness visit iconic venues across the UK, with fans able to sing along to classic hits such as ‘Baggy Trousers’, ‘It Must Be Love’, ‘Driving in My Car’, ‘Our House’, and ‘House of Fun’.
